VACCINES: FACT vs. FICTION

The following comments and thoughts are mine and mine alone. My wish is to stimulate your desire to investigate and separate fact from fiction when applied to your dog’s vaccination schedule. 

FACT: Puppies do receive antibodies through their mother’s milk. This natural protection can last up to 8-14 weeks of age. Maternal immunity will neutralize the vaccine and little protection (0-38%) will be produced if vaccinated during this time frame.

Vaccinating at 6 weeks of age will DELAY the timing of the first effective vaccine. Vaccinations given at 2 weeks apart SUPPRESS rather than stimulate the immune system.

BE YOUR DOGS ADVOCATE AND PROTECTOR: All 27 veterinary schools in North America are in the process of changing their protocols for vaccinating dogs. This, without a doubt, certainly presents an economic challenge to the veterinary business community and some veterinarians will not be quick to change their regimen. I encourage you to educate yourself and STAND FIRM. 

USING TITERS FOR LONG TERM HEALTH: The dogs immune system is fully mature at 6 months old. If a modified live virus vaccine is given after 6 months of age, it produces immunity for the life of the dog.  If another MLV is given a year later, the antibodies from the first vaccine neutralize the antigens of the second vaccine and there is little or no effect.

The “titer” is not boosted nor are more memory cells induced. Not only are annual boosters for parvo and distemper unnecessary, they subject the dog to potential risk of allergic reactions and immune-mediated haemolytic anemia.

There is NO scientific documentation to back up label claims for annual MLV vaccines. It is entirely a money driven process.

HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES TO COUNTERACT ADVERSE AFFECTS OF VACCINES:
The homeopathic remedy for parvo/distemper vaccine adverse affects is “Thuja”. The homeopathic remedy for the rabies vaccine is “Lyssin”.
Both “Thuja” and “Lyssin” are available from health food stores or holistic practioners.

There is a wealth of information on the internet about “Thuja” and “Lyssin”.
“Thuja” is also recommended for children. An interesting book, if you can find a copy, is   “Vaccinosis and Its Cure by Thuja”    by J. Compton Burnett MD.
 

KILLED vs. LIVE VACCINE:  
A properly killed vaccine is always preferable to one of MLV origin. The primary reasons reflect the safety to the host and the environment (your yard). Killed vaccines do not replicate in the vaccinated animal, do not carry the risk of residual virulence and do not shed attenuated viruses into the environment. Furthermore, killed vaccines do not bear the risk of contamination with adventitial viruses present in the tissue culture cells used to grow MLV vaccines.

Veterinarian’s claim that the side-effects of vaccinations are the necessary evil for the greater good of society…    I say, self serving “HOG WASH”.
Vaccinosis in and of its self is a horrible disease. It is not for the greater good, they (medical companies and vets) are protecting dogs artificially and in doing so degrading the health of an entire population. Please, think and investigate for yourself and for your dogs.
